Sunday in Oxford…finally a chance to slow down a little bit. This morning I slept in for a while, then got up and got ready for the day. I headed off to the Oxford Botanic Garden first; the garden was founded for medical research centuries ago, and now is probably the most beautiful thing I have ever seen in my life. There were just tons and tons of different kinds of flowers and plants, and the weather happened to actually be gorgeous for once. It was so surreal though, because I walked in one greenhouse and it felt just like being in the middle of the Amazon rainforest…but I could still hear the Magdalen college church bells ringing just outside. Very cool. I also took about 300 pictures of different flowers and things I thought were pretty – definitely filled up the camera card.
When I finally drug myself out of the garden, I headed to the Christ Church picture gallery with Sarah to work on a class assignment. We were supposed to go to the museum then select a work and write a response to it…kind of “Ode to a Grecian Urn” style. Pretty fun assignment overall.
Afterwards, I did a bit of shopping, then headed back to the dorms to do more homework and chill out a little bit. For nighttime entertainment we headed down to the college bar to hang out with GA Tech people and play darts.
Overall it wasn’t the most exciting day in the world, but it was a much needed rest.
